Climate:

The climate in Peru is subtropical, yet it differs according to the region you are in. During summer (December – March) there are up to 25 °C in the inner regions of the country and up to 31°C at the coast. During monsoon season (June – September) however, the coast is covered by a thick fog, which lets the temperature drop to around 15°C, while in the rainforest, the temperature can decrease to 10°C.

Attractions

Sights:

Cusco is an important traffic junction in Peru. Due to its various archeological sights in- and outside of the city, its vast number of small stores, restaurants, and bars Cusco is very popular. On foot, one can easily reach the Inca ruins of Saksaywaman or the villages and ruin cities of the Sacred Valley. In addition, Cusco is also the point of departure to the famous Inca city of Machu Picchu.

Lake Titicaca:

Lake Titicaca is located in 3856 m midway through the mountains. Its water is very cold, yet the locals live mostly from fishing as well as the breeding of Lamas and Alpacas. Descending from here, one can go on tours to the floating islands of Puno, can take a trip to Bolivia where one can visit the small village of Copacabana and the Isla del Sol, or travel to la Paz.

Arequipa – „The white city“:

The city and its historic center, which is surrounded by three vulcanoes - Misti, Chachani and Pichu Pichu, has been declared UNCESCO world heritage in the year 2000.

Machu Picchu:

The old ruin city of the Incas is the main tourist attraction of Peru. The city, which is listed as UNESCO world heritage since 1983, is located in 2300 m and is constituted of 200 buildings with a defined system of stairs and terraces.
