About Jamso Trainee
The owner moved to Costa Rica for the first time at the age of 18. In the following years she traveled and worked in the beautiful country in Central America on many occasions. Thanks to her many visits there, she knows what it means to start young in a new culture and language. Today we use this knowledge to enable young people to enjoy their stay in Costa Rica. Under the slogan “Don’t just travel as a tourist – be a part of it”, we would also like to show YOU Costa Rica in a very special way. Immerse yourself in local life and live like a Tica/Tico.

Accommodation & school in Latin America
You live with a host family, where you usually have your own room and live in a great environment. Our locations are inland and on the coast, from where it is not far to the beach. The host family will provide you with all meals and do your laundry. You will be integrated into the family in all activities and we primarily look for families with host siblings of a similar age to you. This will give you a good start to your new life from day one.
Private schools & bilingual private schools have a good academic standard and classes start at 7.30am and last until 2.30pm/3.30pm. The school year in Costa Rica runs from February to the end of November/beginning of December.

The ratio of teachers to pupils is much more relaxed in Costa Rica than in Germany. Schools are mostly geared towards the natural sciences, social sciences or humanities. In our select program you have the opportunity to view and choose all the schools of your desired school type.
Classic or Select?
In Costa Rica we offer you the option of choosing between a classic or a select program:
The application
- Send us an email to: info@jamso-trainee.de – We will send you our application form. You will also need a school report, a health certificate and a copy of your last two school certificates.
- Together we will have an initial phone call/zoom appointment to see which school suits you best.
- We will send your documents to Costa Rica.
- If your application is accepted into the high school program, we will offer you and your parents the contract. Once signed, the application is legally binding.
- Once you have been accepted, you will receive a detailed information package from us. We will help you find a flight and apply for a visa. One to two months before your stay abroad you will receive the contact details of your host family.
- Let’s start – be ready! We will contact you by phone shortly before your trip. This gives you the opportunity to go through your trip with us again before you get on the plane. We also look forward to receiving your feedback, reports and photos during your high school year.
Requirements:
- You are between 14 and 17 years old.
- Your personality: open & outgoing, flexible, want to attend school in Costa Rica & YOU CAN FOLLOW THE RULES!
- You have the support of your parents.
Your vacation
Experience Costa Rica from a very special side. Costa Rica has a great variety of nature and wildlife. You can explore this in a very special way during your vacation. During the vacations: Easter vacations (usually 1 week), half-year vacations (June/July 2 weeks) and summer vacations (December and January 6-8 weeks) you have the opportunity to take part in vacation programs in the form of volunteer work or surf courses.
