Our partner school near San Jose, in Costa Rica, has been personally selected by us to ensure that you will find a professional team on site. Lessons take place in small groups of between 2 and a maximum of 6 students, 4 hours per day from Monday to Friday.
- Live with a host family or in a student room (depending on your booking) and take part in afternoon activities with other language students
- As you live in San Jose you can go on excursions to the Caribbean coast, volcanoes, the Pacific coast, etc.

Description
At the beginning you will take a placement test so that you are placed in a learning group according to your level. The local teachers have many years of experience and you will receive varied lessons with lots of exercises so that you can quickly get to grips with the language.
Activities: Once a week there is a cooking course where you will cook local dishes and a dance course (depending on the season). You can also attend a fruit seminar where you will get to know and taste the typical fruits of the country. At the beginning you can take part in an orientation session in which you will receive information about the country, the people and your immediate surroundings. If you have any questions, you can contact the local staff at any time. Of course you can also go on excursions on site, such as to volcanoes (Poas & Barva), canopying and the Orosi Valley. There are no lessons during local public holidays.

Unterkunft & Verpflegung
Gastfamilien:
Die Gastfamilie ist von der Schule sorgfältig ausgewählt und die Zusammenarbeit besteht schon seit Jahren. Während des Vormittages befindest du dich in der Sprachschule und kannst nachmittags direkt deine gelernten Kenntnisse umsetzen. Du erhältst zwei Mahlzeiten pro Tag, ein Mal pro Woche Wäscheservice. Hier kannst du die einheimische Küche und die Kultur perfekt kennenlernen. Deine Gastfamilie befindet sich bis zu 7-15 Minuten mit dem Bus entfernt, du kannst dies aber auch mit einem kleinen Spaziergang verbinden. Am ersten Tag wirst du von deinen Gasteltern zur Schule gebracht. Die Menschen in Costa Rica sind sehr gastfreundlich und lernen auch gerne etwas über andere und neue Kulturen. Daher eignen sich als Gastgeschenke auch sehr, einige Bilder deines Ortes und deines Heimatlandes sowie landestypische Spezialitäten.
Studentenzimmer
Diese befinden sich direkt auf den Campus und du teilst dir das Zimmer mit anderen Spachschülern. Die Unterkunft ist optimal ausgestattet, mit einer Küche und Gemeinschaftsraum.

All programs can be booked with friends. If you would like to book a program as a group, we recommend that you enquire in advance. Each person must book the project individually.
Ideal for all programs are at least three months in advance. In principle it is also possible for us to place short-term applicants (volunteering and language study travel) in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is a safe country and the people are very friendly and warmhearted. In big cities, as in every big city in the world, there is petty crime. When travelling, the following things should be taken into account: always keep an eye on valuables, always keep your hand luggage on your lap in buses, and at night you should not travel by bus or withdraw money from ATMs. Up-to-date information on the situation can be found at the Embassy or Foreign Office.
Please note that in Costa Rica all electronic devices can only be used with an adapter. They are available in many electronics stores.
In principle, no language course is mandatory in advance. However, depending on the volunteering program, certain levels of the language of your destination country may be required to complete the project. We would be happy to advise you individually on your chosen project.
Depending on the program, we work with host families in the vicinity or there are volunteer houses at the project site.
For all programs you have to be covered by foreign health insurance. We will be happy to help you find a suitable insurance policy.
During the language school and in the volunteering projects, you will always have a direct contact person to help you with any problems. Of course you can also always contact us.
