At our partner school in Otavalo, Ecuador, you will have lessons in small groups of between 2 and a maximum of 6 people. At the beginning you will take a placement test so that you are placed in a group according to your level. The local teachers have many years of experience and you will experience varied lessons with lots of exercises to help you get to grips with the language quickly. If you live with a host family you will also have the opportunity to consolidate what you have learned.

Description
Activities: Once a week there is a cooking class where you will cook delicious local dishes. At the beginning, you can take part in an orientation session in which you will receive information about the country, the people and your immediate surroundings. If you have any questions you can of course contact the local staff at any time. Otavalo offers many excursions in the surrounding area, whether to lakes, handicrafts in the surrounding villages or to the masters of leather art. We have already compiled a lot of information under country information. There are no lessons during the local public holidays.

Unterkunft & Verpflegung
Gastfamilien: Eine Gastfamilie bietet dir einen perfekten Einstieg in die neue Sprache. Die Gastfamilien sind von der Schule sorgfältig ausgewählt und die Zusammenarbeit besteht schon seit Jahren. Während des Tages hälst du dich in der Sprachschule auf und kannst abends direkt deine gelernten Kenntnisse umsetzen. Während deiner Zeit in der Familie erhälst du Frühstück & Abendessen und kannst die einheimische Küche und die Kultur perfekt kennenlernen. Deine Gastfamilie befindet sich bis zu 15 Minuten mit dem Bus entfernt. Die Menschen in Ecuador sind sehr gastfreundlich und lernen auch gerne etwas über andere und neue Kulturen.
Studentenzimmer: Dein Hostel befindet sich in der Nähe von der Sprachschule. Nicht länger als 10 Minuten entfernt. Im Hostel hast du die Möglichkeit selber zu kochen. Supermärkte befinden sich in der näheren Umgebung.

All programs can be booked with friends. If you would like to book a program as a group, we recommend that you enquire in advance. Each person must book the project individually.
Ideal for all programs are at least three months in advance. In principle it is also possible for us to place short-term applicants (volunteering and language study travel) in Ecuador.
Ecuador is a safe country and the people are very friendly and warmhearted. In big cities, as in every big city in the world, there is petty crime. When travelling, the following things should be taken into account: always keep an eye on valuables, always keep your hand luggage on your lap in buses, and at night you should not travel by bus or withdraw money from ATMs. Up-to-date information on the situation can be found at the Embassy or Foreign Office.
Please note that in Ecuador all electronic devices can only be used with an adapter. They are available in many electronics stores.
In principle, no language course is mandatory in advance. However, depending on the volunteering program, certain levels of the language of your destination country may be required to complete the project. We would be happy to advise you individually on your chosen project.
Depending on the program, we work with host families in the vicinity or there are volunteer houses at the project site.
For all programs you have to be covered by foreign health insurance. We will be happy to help you find a suitable insurance policy.
During the language school and in the volunteering projects, you will always have a direct contact person to help you with any problems. Of course you can also always contact us.
