Description
During this project, you will actively support training sessions and, depending on your experience, you can also take over various training sessions independently after an initial training period. This project is designed to develop the kids, which is why care is taken to ensure that the children also learn how to interact with their teammates during training. Our volunteers not only support the kids on the field, but also encourage their social behavior. As this is a community project, the costs for the local families should be as low as possible. Become active yourself and help organize fundraising campaigns on site.

Living arrangements
Accommodation and meals on site
During your time in the volunteer project, you will either live with a host family or in volunteer accommodation. In this project, you have a choice of accommodation. Your accommodation is located in the village within walking distance of restaurants, banks and supermarkets. The volunteer accommodation is well equipped: with Wi-Fi, a kitchen and a washing machine. Please note that our volunteer accommodation is usually booked out more quickly.

Typical day in the project
A typical day at the soccer project in Latin America:
Most training times are in the afternoon, after school. Friendly matches take place at the weekend. All our volunteers support the project for a 5-day week and your skills and wishes will be taken into account. These will be discussed in advance with the contact persons after your project has been confirmed, approx. 2-4 weeks before the start. In the morning, you will have the opportunity to prepare and plan the various training sessions with the team of volunteers. From 4 p.m. onwards, it’s soccer training for the various age groups. Not every session takes place on the soccer field, but occasionally as a fitness session on the beach, for example, or as a jog through the town.
You will also play a major role in communicating with parents and children and managing the social media channels on a weekly basis.
Please note that there are summer vacations in Costa Rica from mid-December to mid-February. There are restrictions on the projects and project places are filled more quickly. Native speakers have the option of booking this project without a language school. Please contact us for more information. If you have no or very little knowledge of Spanish, you can either take a language course on site before your volunteer project or you can start the online language course with us from home.
Extras
Language course
Complete an intensive language course in the morning. You attend a language course at a local language school for 20 lessons a week. Your teachers are native speakers, and you learn in small groups. The language course will quickly bring you closer to the Spanish language or allow you to deepen your knowledge. As you will be communicating intensively with children and parents in this program, a language course is very helpful.

Translated literally Costa Rica means rich coast and is also known as the ‘Switzerland of Central America‘. In the North, Costa Rica shares a border with Nicaragua and one with Panama in the South. Due to the number of national parks and the mostly untouched beaches Costa Rica is a paradise for nature lovers and surfers.

All programs can be booked with friends. If you would like to book a program as a group, we recommend that you enquire in advance. Each person must book the project individually.
Ideal for all programs are at least three months in advance. In principle it is also possible for us to place short-term applicants (volunteering and language study travel) in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is a safe country and the people are very friendly and warmhearted. In big cities, as in every big city in the world, there is petty crime. When travelling, the following things should be taken into account: always keep an eye on valuables, always keep your hand luggage on your lap in buses, and at night you should not travel by bus or withdraw money from ATMs. Up-to-date information on the situation can be found at the Embassy or Foreign Office.
Please note that in Costa Rica all electronic devices can only be used with an adapter. They are available in many electronics stores.
In principle, no language course is mandatory in advance. However, depending on the volunteering program, certain levels of the language of your destination country may be required to complete the project. We would be happy to advise you individually on your chosen project.
Depending on the program, we work with host families in the vicinity or there are volunteer houses at the project site.
For all programs you have to be covered by foreign health insurance. We will be happy to help you find a suitable insurance policy.
During the language school and in the volunteering projects, you will always have a direct contact person to help you with any problems. Of course you can also always contact us.
