Description
It was created as a place where the children of working parents have a place where they can be educated, have friends and feel comfortable. Some of the children come from families with only one parent, who would not be able to cope without the help of the daycare center.
As a rule, the daycare centers are filled with children from the surrounding area who come from different backgrounds, from the lower class to the middle class. The costs for the families depend on the household income.
The daycare center is located in a nice, quiet suburb of Heredia. It is easy to get to the center of Heredia by bus and to all bus stops in San Jose to get to the beach.
- The tasks of the volunteers include:
- Looking after small babies and children
- Helping out in the kitchen
- Supervising the children
- Organizing activities and entertaining the children with games and songs
- Teaching basic English and hygiene skills as well as social values

- Local accommodation in a host family incl. half board

Living arrangements
Accommodation and meals on site
During your project, you will live with a “tico” host family. In some families, you will live with another volunteer. You will receive two typical local meals per day. You can reach many projects within 10 minutes on foot or by bus. Our host families are carefully selected and have experience with travelers from all over the world.
Typical day in project
Volunteering on site – typical day at the project:
Volunteers spend their time caring for babies and young children, helping with meals, brushing teeth, playing with them and reading books to them. Volunteers also support the staff when needed. As a volunteer, you will work between 4-7 hours per day from Monday to Friday. A typical working day:

8.00 a.m. Start of the volunteer service

Spanish language course
You have the opportunity to take a language course parallel to your program in the afternoon. The language course takes place 3 days a week for 2 lessons. The teaching days will be arranged flexibly with the teacher and adapted to the project. The teachers are experienced teachers from Costa Rica. The lessons are one-to-one.

All programs can be booked with friends. If you would like to book a program as a group, we recommend that you enquire in advance. Each person must book the project individually.
Ideal for all programs are at least three months in advance. In principle it is also possible for us to place short-term applicants (volunteering and language study travel) in Costa Rica.
Costa Rica is a safe country and the people are very friendly and warmhearted. In big cities, as in every big city in the world, there is petty crime. When travelling, the following things should be taken into account: always keep an eye on valuables, always keep your hand luggage on your lap in buses, and at night you should not travel by bus or withdraw money from ATMs. Up-to-date information on the situation can be found at the Embassy or Foreign Office.
Please note that in Costa Rica all electronic devices can only be used with an adapter. They are available in many electronics stores.
In principle, no language course is mandatory in advance. However, depending on the volunteering program, certain levels of the language of your destination country may be required to complete the project. We would be happy to advise you individually on your chosen project.
Depending on the program, we work with host families in the vicinity or there are volunteer houses at the project site.
For all programs you have to be covered by foreign health insurance. We will be happy to help you find a suitable insurance policy.
During the language school and in the volunteering projects, you will always have a direct contact person to help you with any problems. Of course you can also always contact us.
